The Central University of Catalonia in Spain delivered its first blockchain certificates

The Central University of Catalonia in Spain (UVic-UCC) delivered the first certificates with blockchain technology to the students of the master’s degree in Business Administration and Management for the 2019-2020 academic year.

The blockchain technology certificates are the result of a collaboration with Seidor, and the Open University of Catalonia (UOC), for the development of the Circulum network.

The Central University of Catalonia also informs that in order to view the certificate, the student must have an address with the uvic.cat domain, which can be obtained by registering as a former student on the UAlumni website, and downloading the Circulum app. that is already in the virtual stores of Apple and Android.

According to the UVic-UCC, it is not very common for educational institutions to certify with this tool, taking into account that it is a technology implemented above all in the world of cryptocurrencies.

However, they consider that it is only a matter of time before companies adopt it to validate the training of their future students.

In this sense, the titles notified that the master’s programmes, typical of the field of Business of this UVic-UCC course, will have this technology for the certification of, and the validation of the certificate can be carried out directly in the electronic headquarters of the UVic-UCC.

Finally, the Catalan institution described the creation of Circulum as key for the Spanish educational sector, since the agents involved (such as higher education centers, universities, students, researchers…), they mentioned, will be able to use the disruptive capabilities of blockchain technology to generate safer and more efficient relationship dynamics, as well as the development of new business models.
